1946 – Roy Wood of Electric Light Orchestra and The Move is born in Birmingham. 1949 – Pop/blues artist Bonnie Raitt is born. 1961 – Brian Epstein phones the Liverpool Cavern in an effort to get a ticket to the next Beatles show. He would become the band’s manager shortly after seeing them. 1964 – The Beatles play the Liverpool Empire. It’s their first hometown concert in nearly a year. 1965 – The Beatles worked on a new George Harrison song ‘Think For Yourself’ at Abbey Road for their forthcoming Rubber Soul album. 1966 – The Jimi Hendrix Experience play the first of four nights at Munich’s Big Apple Club. 1967 – How I Won the War, starring John Lennon, has its New York premiere tonight. 1968 – The Who, Joe Cocker and The Grease Band, The Mindbenders and The Crazy World of Arthur Brown all appeared at The Walthamstow Granada Theatre, England. 1968 – John and Cynthia Lennon are divorced after six years of marriage. 1969 – The Rolling Stones perform in Los Angeles, where they smash the concert gross record previously held by the Beatles. 1970 – Jim Morrison makes recordings of his spoken-word material. After his death, the Doors set the poems to music as An American Prayer. 1971 – At London’s Empire Ballroom, Paul McCartney throws a party to launch his new group, Wings. 1975 – David Bowie made his US TV debut performing ‘Fame’, on the Cher CBS-TV show. 1975 – Elton John was named Godfather to John and Yoko Lennon’s son Sean. 1977 - Suzi Quatro made her first appearance on Happy Days as Leather Tuscadero, the younger sister of Fonzie’s girlfriend. 1985 - Jack Osbourne, the third child of Ozzy & Sharon Osbourne was born in St. John’s Wood, London. 2001 – Hip-hop rockers Limp Bizkit and cartoon indie-beat band Gorillaz are the big winners at the eighth annual MTV Europe Music Awards. 2008 – AC/DC started a two-week run at No.1 on the US album chart with ‘Black Ice’
