1940 – Progressive rock drummer Peter Brown is born. 1944 – Canned Heat guitarist Henry Vestine is born in Washington, D.C. 1945 – The Jimi Hendrix Experience bassist Noel Redding is born in Folkestone, England. 1946 – Soft rock party animal Jimmy Buffett is born in Pascogoula, Miss. 1959 – This morning young Richard Starkey receives his first drum set for Christmas. The 18-year-old apprentice engineer later become world famous as Ringo Starr, drummer for the Beatles. 1960 – 12 year old James Taylor receives his first guitar for Christmas. 1964 – Fans attending one of the Beatles’ London Christmas shows attack George Harrison’s girlfriend Patti Boyd. 1965 – George Harrison proposes to Patti Boyd as they drive to a Christmas dinner in London. 1967 – Paul McCartney becomes engaged to his girlfriend, the actress Jane Asher. However, they never marry. 1977 - The Sex Pistols performed their last concert in the U.K. before their reunion in 1996 at the Ivanhoes Club in Huddersfield, U.K. The concert was a charity performance for children of firemen, laid-off workers & single parents. 1981 – The inmates of Norfolk Correctional Center outside of Boston are treated to a Christmas concert by the J. Geils Band. Peter Wolf tells the cons, “We wanna be the first to buy you all a free drink on the outside.” 1987 - Ted Nugent appeared on Late Night with David Letterman where he sang The Christmas Song with a bogus Letterman. 1998 – Bryan MacLean, guitarist and singer of folk-rock group Love, dies in Los Angeles of an apparent heart attack. He is 52. 2010 - According to Reuters, Jason Bonham‘s Led Zeppelin Experience to launch second leg in the Spring.
