1942 – Glyn Johns, the producer who famously worked with the Eagles, is born in Epsom, England. He’s also produced albums for the Who and the Rolling Stones. 1944 – Kinks drummer Mick Avory is born in Hampton Court, England. 1945 - John Helliwell-saxophonist for Supertramp is born 1958 – Jerry Lee Lewis performs “Great Balls of Fire” and “Breathless” on American Bandstand. 1964 – The Beatles scored their first US No.1 album with ‘Meet The Beatles!’ The album stayed at No.1 for eleven weeks. 1967 – The first anti-bootlegging recording laws are enacted. 1968 – John and Cynthia Lennon, along with George and Patti Harrison, fly to India to study meditation with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. 1988 – After singer Jo Elliot had referred to El Paso as ‘the place with all those greasy Mexicans’ Def Leppard were forced to cancel a concert in El Paso, after they received threats that the gig would be disrupted. 1997 – U2 went to No.1 on the UK singles chart with ‘Discoteque’, the bands third UK number 1 single. 1998 – The Rolling Stones perform the final show of their Bridges to Babylon North American tour at Las Vegas’ Hard Rock Hotel. Mick Jagger calls the crowd, which includes Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, and Sting, “the best-dressed audience I’ve ever seen in my life" 2001 – Beatles principal George Harrison participates in his first-ever online chats via Yahoo! Chat and MSN Live. 2001 – David Lee Roth sues VanHalenStore.com, claiming they’re violating the Consumers Legal Remedies Act by selling merchandise with his image on it. 2002 – Tommy Lee is sued by the parents of a boy who drowned in his pool in 2001. They allege there was no lifeguard provided at the pool. 2002, Kerrang! Magazine overtook the New Musical Express for the first time to become the best selling UK weekly music publication. 2006 – The gravesite of AC/DC singer Bon Scott in Fremantle Cemetery in Western Australia is classified with a heritage listing. 2008 – Confirming long standing rumors , Activision announced this morning that they’re teaming with rock band Aerosmith to produce an entirely new “Guitar Hero” game dedicated solely to virtually playing along with their songs, titled simply “Guitar Hero: Aerosmith”.
