1957 – No. 1 Chart Toppers Pop Hit: “All Shook Up,” Elvis Presley. 1961 – Bob Dylan has his first live performance in New York at Gerde’s Folk City, where he opens for bluesman John Lee Hooker. 1964 – The Beatles set a new chart record when they had 14 songs on the Billboard Hot 100. 1965 – Performing at the New Musical Express poll winners concert, at London’s Wembley Empire Pool, England, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Tom Jones, Freddie and the Dreamers, The Animals, The Kinks, Herman’s Hermits, Moody Blues, Them, Cilla Black, The Seekers and Donovan. 1970 – Peter Green quit Fleetwood Mac while on tour in Germany, to avoid breach of contract he agreed to finish the current tour. 1970 – Paul McCartney announces he will not record with John Lennon again. 1981 – Musician Eddie Van Halen marries actress Valerie Bertinelli of TV’s “One Day at a Time.” 1983 - Metallica fired original guitarist Dave Mustaine due to Mustaine’s alcoholism, drug abuse & personality clashes with the rest of the band. Mustaine later went on to form Megadeth. 1991 - Ringo Starr became the first living member of The Beatles to make a guest appearance on The Simpsons. Starr asked to be animated the way he was in Yellow Submarine because he didn’t like his appearance in The Beatles cartoon series. 1992 - Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson & British comedian Rowan Atkinson as Mr. Bean reached number nine on the U.K. Singles Chart with a cover of Alice Cooper’s “Elected” which was recorded for the U.K.’s charity organization Comic Relief. 2002 – Former Mrs. Tommy Lee, Pamela Anderson says yes when bad-boy musician Kid Rock proposes to her in the desert outside Las Vegas. 2002 – Hard rocking acts Staind, Godsmack, and Aerosmith take home two prizes each at the 15th annual Boston Music Awards at Boston’s Orpheum Theatre. 2008 - Rush kicked off the third and final leg of their Snakes and Arrows Tour in support of their eighteenth studio album of the same name in San Juan, PR at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico. It was the first time Rush had ever played Puerto Rico. 2008 - Members of Velvet Revolver start work on new material without vocalist Scott Weiland. 2011 – Yesterday, Bob Dylan plays a concert in Vietnam.
