1947 – Born on this day, Greg Rolie, Santana,
1963 – The Rolling Stones released their first UK single, ‘Come On’, it peaked at No.21 on the UK chart.
1965 – Working at Abbey Road studios in London The Beatles completed work on the new Paul McCartney song ‘Yesterday’ with the overdubbing of an additional vocal track by McCartney and a string quartet.
1966 - Guitarist Peter Green joined John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers
1972 - The Grateful Dead played for the last time with founding member, organist Ron “Pigpen” McKernan at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
1972 – The Rolling Stones album ‘Exile On Main Street’ started a four-week run at the top of the US charts
1978 - Jefferson Starship cancelled their appearance at Germany’s Lorelei Festival due to Grace Slick being too inebriated to perform.
1980, Van Halen kicked off a 6-date UK tour at Newcastle City Hall.
1980 - Led Zeppelin kicked off their Tour Over Europe at the Westfalenhalle in Dortmund, Germany. This would be their final tour.
1991 – For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge (Van Halen) is released this day
1999 – A teenage girl was crushed to death during a gig by Hole at the Hultsfred Festival, Sweden.
2005 – Karl Mueller, bassist and founding member of the Minneapolis-based rock act Soul Asylum, dies at his home. He was 41.
2006: The Rolling Stones announced that Ron Wood entered rehab for alcohol dependency. He did rejoin their A Bigger Bang tour when it resumed in July.
2007 – The Traveling Wilburys went to No.1 on the UK album chart with ‘Collection.’
