1945 – Jose Feliciano is born in Puerto Rico. 1942 – Vocalist Danny Hutton of Three Dog Night is born in Buncrana, Ireland. 1949 – Jethro Tull drummer Barriemore Barlow is born 1950 – Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry is born in Boston 1963 –John Lennon and Paul McCartney watch the Rolling Stones rehearse after meeting their manager, Andrew Loog Oldham, on the street. The pair offer the band “I Wanna Be Your Man. 1965 – On this day The Rolling Stones take over the British pop programme Ready Steady Go! today. Not only do the band members host, but they also interview their special guests Manfred Mann, Goldie & the Gingerbreads, and the Preachers. The last were booked because Bill Wyman produced their current single. 1965 –It’s reported that manager Brian Epstein is negotiating rights for a Beatles cartoon series. 1966 – On this day The Beatles’ Revolver goes to No. 1 on the American albums chart and stays there for six weeks. 1966 – On TV tonight, the Rolling Stones make an appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. Guitarist Brian Jones has his hand in a cast after falling over in Tangier. 1974 – The New York Dolls split up. 1975 –Kiss release their first live record, Alive. The double set also becomes their first top 10 album. 1988 - Eric Clapton kicks off an American tour with Dire Straits guitarist Mark Knopfler. 1998 – The Beastie Boys are presented with the Video Vanguard Award at the 15th annual MTV Video Music Awards. 2006 - Metallica made an appearance on the season premiere of The Simpsons’ sixteenth season. 2007 – Pamela Anderson’s ex-husband Kid Rock was involved in an alleged assault on drummer Tommy Lee, (who was also married to the actress up until 1998).
