1965 – The Mannish Boys released their debut single ‘I Pity The Fool’, featuring a young David Bowie.
1965 – Rolling Stones begin tour of UK, supported by the Hollies, Goldie and Gingerbreads.
1970 - John Frusciante-guitarist for Red Hot Chili Peppers is born.
1970 – John Lennon and Yoko Ono check into the London Clinic. Later in the month the couple begin a primal-scream course.
1971 – Led Zeppelin perform “Stairway to Heaven” in concert for the first time at the Ulster Hall in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
1971 – UK band Badfinger kicked off their first US tour appearing in Toledo, Ohio.
1973 –The former US manager of Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jeffrey was one of 68 people killed in a plane crash in France. Jeffery was en-route to a court appearance in London related to Hendrix.
1982 – John Belushi (Blues Brothers and SNL) dies.
1985 – No. 1 Chart Toppers Pop Hit: “Can’t Fight This Feeling,” REO Speedwagon.
1992 – R.E.M. cleaned up in The Rolling Stone Music Awards winning Album of the year, for ‘Out Of Time’, Artist of the year, Best single for ‘Losing My Religion’, Best video for ‘Losing My Religion’ and Best band, Best guitarist and Best songwriter awards.
1994 – Grace Slick is arrested for pointing a shotgun at police at her Tiburon, Calif., home. The former Jefferson Starship lead singer later says she has been under stress
1995 – Bonzo Dog Band songwriter Vivian Stanshall dies in a fire at his home in Muswell Hill, England.
2001 – KISS frontman Paul Stanley is served divorce papers from his wife of nine years. Pamela Bowen Stanley cites irreconcilable differences.
2002 – The first episode of ‘The Osbournes’ TV show was aired on MTV in the US.
2005 – Guitarist Brian “Head” Welch, who left Korn after finding God, is baptised in Israel’s Jordan River along with 20 other members of his church, the Valley Bible Fellowship.
2007 – Records by the Rolling Stones and Paul Simon were chosen for preservation by the US Library of Congress.
2014 - Movie director Richard Lester, who directed The Beatles' film Help!, announced that he was putting the piano John Lennon and Paul McCartney played while filming the movie,up for auction. The instrument was expected to sell for 50,000 Pounds
